Upturns Single Release Show
Southern Maltings is proud to champion grassroots music, and as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting emerging local talent, we’re thrilled to be teaming up with Hertfordshire indie‑rock outfit Upturns for the release of their brand‑new single Hazel Eyes.
Upturns
Formed in January 2025, Upturns are an electrifying four‑piece blending raw live energy with emotionally driven original songs. The band features Isla Brent (rhythm guitar & vocals), Thomas Selby (lead guitar), Leonardo Rason (bass & backing vocals) and Leila Archard (drums). Inspired by the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen, Keo and Fontaines D.C., their debut single Drunken Nights has already made waves across the Hertfordshire music scene, fuelled by relentless gigging and a fast‑growing fanbase.
We’re delighted to welcome them to Southern Maltings for this special single‑release show — and they’re bringing two fantastic support acts with them.
Pearlescent
A young Stevenage band with bags of personality, Pearlescent describe themselves as “your nan’s favourite bandana‑wearing local band.” Known for their infectious energy and fresh, upcoming vibes, the trio features OJ (lead vocals & bass), Inds (guitar) and Liam “Mr Kipling” Holland (drums).
Dead the Will
A rising teenage indie/alt‑rock four‑piece from Hertfordshire, Dead the Will bring influences ranging from Royal Blood to Radiohead. With Daisy (vocals, guitar), Charlie (lead guitar), Lenny (bass) and Harry (drums), they deliver a punchy mix of originals and covers performed across London and Herts.

The event is being held on the first floor of the Southern Maltings building. Please check with the event organisers if using stairs is problematic.
