Ware Poets at Southern Maltings

Ware Poets at Southern Maltings

Ware Poets began in Southern Maltings in 1991. They run monthly live poetry and spoken word events and also manage a prestigious annual poetry competition that attracts entries from all over the world. Their reputation enables them to bring high-profile poets to Ware, both as guest readers and competition judges, and they also offer audiences open mic opportunities in a safe, friendly and welcoming space. It’s a great community for anyone who enjoys poetry, whether as a listener, reader or performer.

Why Southern Maltings?

Southern Maltings plays an important role in Ware’s cultural life. Once a working maltings house, the building now brings people together through arts and community events. Ware Poets meet here each month to share poems, listen to new voices and spend time with others who enjoy spoken word. When you join us, you support a nonprofit that puts its income back into local arts. We are easy to reach in the centre of Ware with nearby parking and good public transport. Our poetry evenings include a licensed bar with local ales and wines. You are welcome to book online or buy a ticket on the door if spaces remain.
