Printmaking with found materials: Exploring the natural world short course.
Discover how everyday materials can be transformed into expressive printmaking plates in this four-week, hands-on course.
Using found and recycled materials such as Tetra Pak cartons, cardboard packaging, and textured papers, participants will explore a combination of intaglio and collagraph techniques to create richly detailed prints inspired by the natural world.
Each week will introduce new processes — from preparing and inking up plates to experimenting with layering, tone, and texture. Guided by demonstrations and individual support, you’ll learn to capture the beauty of landscapes, plants, and wildlife through sustainable, creative printmaking methods.
By the end of the course, you’ll produce a small collection of original prints that reflect both your artistic vision and an appreciation for the environment.
What You’ll Learn:
How to repurpose found materials into printing plates
Intaglio and collagraph techniques using accessible tools
Inking, wiping, and printing by hand or with a press
Composition and design inspired by natural forms
Sustainable studio practices in printmaking
Duration: 4 weeks
