Doors open at 2:30pm, with music from 3:00-5:00pm.
Celebrate the music of Stan Tracey, one of the most important figures in British jazz. As a pianist and composer, Stan Tracey’s work shaped the UK jazz scene for more than six decades. His album Under Milk Wood is viewed as a landmark recording in British music.
Clark Tracey brings a special project to honour his father’s legacy. The quintet plays Stan’s tunes with precision and heart. You get tight rhythm, clear melodies and a strong link to the original sound.
Clark is joined by two leading players. Mark Armstrong on trombone brings rich tone and strong phrasing. Simon Allen on sax brings sharp lines and expressive solos.
If you enjoy acoustic jazz with strong writing and a clear story, this afternoon offers it. Join us Upstairs at Southern Maltings for a warm, informal session of great music.
Tickets £17 on the door (if available). £14 in advance. FREE entry for children under 16 if accompanied by an adult.
